CELL Polysaccharides as a Source of New Materials, US - EU Crossed Perspectives
Polysaccharides as a Source of New Materials: Prospective and Innovative Trends (US-EU crossed perspectives). The European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence (EPNOE) (a network of 16 major research institutions in Europe) and the ACS-CELL Division join efforts to promote research and education in the area of polysaccharides. The objective of this half-a-day workshop is to give an overview of the research challenges facing US and EU in the area polysaccharides as a source of new materials. The program will include discussions with distinguished scientists in the fields of (1) bioplastics and the EU bioplastics 2030 prospective study; (2) bridging the starch and cellulose worlds; (3) enzymology as a key for disassembling polysaccharides and (4) polysaccharide-based functional materials (biodegradable packaging, polysaccharide functionality in foods, etc.). Researchers, students, industry personnel, etc. will benefit from this unique opportunity. All welcome.
