Progress toward the synthesis of 1,5-methylenesemibullvalene: The first neutral bishomoaromatic compound

Our research focuses on the synthesis of 1,5-methylensemibullvalene, which is proposed to be bishomoaromatic.  Scheme 1 shows the proposed route.  We will report the progress that has been made on this synthesis and plans for improvement.
