We wish to report on the reactivity of the densely functionalized anti-tricyclo [4.2.1.12,5]deca-3,7-diene-9,10-dione, a sparsely investigated cage compound. Twofold functionalization of the carbonyl and/or olefin units increases the complexity and will ultimately tailor novel functional structures. We discuss the syntheses and structures of selected targets that have been obtained by chemo-, regio- and stereoselective transformations with various electrophiles, nucleophiles and Diels-Alder building blocks.
