| The purpose of this research is to study and explore the sulfonium salt mediated dealkylation process. Compounds containing sulfur will be the focus of the study on dealkylation. The product of the process will be eventually utilized in the assembly of bifunctionalized systems and in the preparation of thioethers. Further research will employ the use of an immobilized system in order to increase the efficiency of the reaction. Current methods in the synthesis of both compounds are ineffective in terms of atom economy. It is hypothesized that the sulfonium salt technology studied in the research could greatly improve upon and enhance the methods of synthesis. |
