A new fluorescent probe using pyrene deriv. as fluorophore for proton detection was designed and synthesized. It has good sensitivity on pH variation in aq. soln. The emission intensity ratio between the monomer and the excimer for the pyrene deriv. can be easily controlled by addn. of both CD(Cyclodextrin) and CB(Cucurbituril) through the formation of the host-guest complex. This can be used as a potential ratiometric sensor for measurement of the solution pH.
