In our continuing studies on the use of microwave heating for preparing heterocyclic compounds, we report the preparation of a series of 1, 2- Benzothiazoles. Benzothiazole derivatives have pharmacological activities such as anti-tumor drugs, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. The benzothiazoles were synthesized by the reaction of 2-chloroacetophenone derivates with ammonium iodide, sodium acetate, and sulfur. The reaction conditions were in DMF at 90 oC for 10 minutes. All the products were characterized by 1HNMR, 13CNMR and GC/MS.
