Fluorous reagents are becoming increasingly popular as alternative reagents for synthesis, owing to their ease of use and subsequent removal and separation/purification from reactions, either by fluorous liquid-liquid extraction or fluorous silica-based solid-liquid separation.

We herein report the synthesis and applications of two novel fluorous reagents: a stable radical, fluorous-TEMPO and a potential HMPA-replacement, fluorous-DMPU.
