Asymmeteric conjugate addition of thiols to unsaturated carbonyls by organic catalysts based on cinchona alkaloids

Conjugate additions of thiols to various Michael acceptors provide a useful strategy for the synthesis of sulfur-containing chiral molecules. In this work we present a highly enantioselective and general conjugate addition of thios to unsaturated carbonyls by cinchona alkaloid catalysts. Mechanistic studies and synthetic applications of this new asymmetric conjugate addition will also be described.
