We describe a Pd-catalyzed Boc directed C-H bond activation reaction of a variety of methyl amines, the α-methyl groups of amines are selectively acetoxylated using IOAc as oxidant. The acetoxylated products are versatile synthons as N-acyloxyimium ion equivalents for C-C bond froming reactions.
