The development of green processes for olefin metathesis reactions is an ever-expending area of research simply because of the practical need. Among the numerous supported catalytic systems investigated those containing ionic tags are known to display both good recyclabitity and activity. The synthesis and characterization of new N-heterocyclic carbene-containing ionic pre-catalyst have been carried out. Activity and reusability of this complex are presented for cross metathesis of olefins.
