Utilizing a simple methodology between diethyl malonate and different salicilaldehydes, the corresponding coumarin 3-ethyl carboxylates were formed. These Compounds were condensed with ethanolamine and amine propyl morpholine to form the amide derivatives whose structural characterization by 1 H and 13C NMR is discussed. The study includes the X-ray difraction with emphasis in the supramolecular structure, these compounds are self assembled in hydrogen-bonded layers among other common features, as shown in the figure. In summary, The development of a a simple methodology for the preparation of coumarin derivatives and the study of their molecular and supramolecular structure are reported.
