The C-H activation strategy developed in our group was applied to functionalization of amides and other carbonyl-containing compounds. Palladium-catalyzed reactions are effective not only for the arylation of sp2 but also sp3 C-H bonds. High functional group tolerance on both coupling components was observed. Additionally, mechanistic studies of amide C-H activation will be reported.
