| The field of ionic liquids is finding increasing application in many areas of chemistry. A solvent-free microwave assisted version of the Huisgen 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition has been developed using trimethylsilylazide (TMSN3) and C-substituted acetylenic compounds to form C-substituted 1,2,3-triazoles that are converted into tetrafluoro borate based ionic liquids.
