Although C-N bond formation has been well established under forcing conditions, the effort to develop very mild, highly functionality compatible reactions is always welcome. 2-Azadiene, a class of important building blocks in N-heterocycle synthesis, still cannot be obtained through a mild and general way. A new method for this purpose has been explored. Through the copper-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction of oxime esters and vinyl boronic acids 2-azadienes are prepared in high yield under mild conditions.
