This lecture will describe novel methods of organic synthesis developed in the author's laboratory. Particular emphasis will be placed on two fundamental strategies: scaffolding approaches to high enantiopurity heterocycles using pyranyl and pyridinyl "organometallic chirons" and metal templating to reveal novel modes of reaction between thioorganic and boronic acid substrates.
