Elysiapyrones A and B are marine natural products featuring a bicyclo[4.2.0]octane core. We have previously reported a concise, racemic and biomimetic synthesis of these complex natural products. In order to render the total synthesis asymmetric, a novel, stereoselective electrocyclization has been developed.
