Recent advances in palladium N-heterocyclic carbene catalysis

Recently we detailed the synthesis of the PEPPSI precatalyst family and demonstrated that PEPPSI-IPr (1) is a highly effective cross-coupling precatalyst. Here we will discuss how structural changes in the pyridine and N-heterocyclic carbene ligands affect the overall performance and stability of the precatalyst in cross-coupling reactions.
