Asymmetric cross aldol reaction of 1,2-diketones and ketones mediated by L-proline derivatives

We have developed an enantioselective cross aldol reaction of 1,2-diketones and ketones to produce the corresponding optically active tertiary hydroxyl compounds in good ee values. The regio-, diastereo- and enantioselectivity, as well as the reactivity of this novel cross aldol reactions will be discussed.
