The development of fullerene chemistry with applications to organic materials science will be presented. The most recent results in fullerene modifications from our laboratory will also be described with emphasis on very electronegative fullerenes. Finally our research on very highly porous carbons for high capacity lithium batteries and hydrogen storage will be described.
