| The invention of new synthetic reactions offers the opportunity to develop new strategies for the synthesis of heterocycles. Using a mechanistic approach, a series of catalytic reactions involving the complexes of rhodium and ruthenium as catalysts have been developed. The ability to use these reactions for the creation of new synthetic methods towards heterocycles will be described. The application of these reactions to create strategies to biologically important heterocyclic systems will be discussed. |
