Vascularization or angiogenesis is key to the growth of tumors. One mechanism for halting angiogenesis is through the pro-angiogenic factor VEGFR (vascular endothelial growth factor receptor) or KDR (kinase domain receptor). A new class of VEGF inhibitors has been discovered at Amgen. Process development of this structural series will be presented.
