Recent work in our lab has focused on the design and synthesis of oligonucleotides with a unique polyester backbone. This polyester backbone consists of the hydroxy acid 1-hydroxy-3,6,9-trioxa-12-azatetradecan-14-oic acid, where the amine is acylated with a nucleobase acetic acid derivative. We hope the oligo(ethylene glycol)-derived backbone yields oligonucleotides with good solubility in organic solvents and water. This poster reports progress towards the synthesis and characterization of a pair of complementary dinucleotides.
