In aqueous solutions of ionic liquids, our previous investigation concluded that ions dissociated from ionic liquids have a considerable impact on the enzyme activity, following the Hofmeister's series. Our current study is to examine the effect of kosmotropic anion (such as acetate) on the enantioselective hydrolysis of phenylalanine ester monitoring by a HPLC. The kosmotropic anions were found to be able to stabilize the enzyme, and the concentration of ionic liquids influenced the product ee and yield.
