Efforts towards the development of sulfur heterocycles (S-heterocycles) will be reported. This study demonstrates the synthesis of a variety of interesting S-heterocycles by use of ring-closing metathesis. Cyclic S-heterocycles ranging from 5- to 11-membered rings have been obtained in good to excellent yields. In addition, recent routes towards the synthesis of novel sulfonamide sugar (S-sugar) scaffolds and their analogs for future library development will also be described.
