| The versatile, halogenated, fused-ring sydnones 2 and 3 have been prepared in good yields by treatment of iminophosphorane 1 with the appropriate isocyanate or isothiocyanate. The utility of 2 and 3 for Suzuki and Sonogashira couplings has been explored. Further, the ability of the iodosydno[3,4-a]quinoxaline 3 to undergo metal –halogen exchange (with BuLi) and subsequent reaction with electrophiles will be discussed
