Award Address (ACS Award in Pure Chemistry, sponsored by Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity and the Alpha Chi Sigma Educational Foundation). Evolutionary principles applied to biological and synthetic molecules

ORGN 253

David R. Liu, Howard Hughes Medical Institute and Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Harvard University, 12 Oxford Street, Cambridge, MA 02138
This lecture will describe the application of principles underlying biological evolution to the creation and discovery of functional small molecules and macromolecules. Topics will include an overview of the development of DNA-templated organic synthesis and its applications in funcational small-molecule, functional polymer, and reaction discovery.
