| The mounting threat of bacterial resistance has heightened the urgency to discover and develop anti-infective agents with novel mechanism of action and enhanced activity profile. Natural products continue to be a rich source of antimicrobial agents, but traditional approaches to natural products discovery often are challenged to meet the shortened timelines of today's drug discovery environment. This talk describes new chemical and biological strategies, methods to meet those timelines, and their application in the discovery of the mannopeptimycins, a promising new class of potent anti-infective agents. |
