Ageliferin is a natural product derived from the marine sponge Agelis conifera. This novel alkaloid belongs to the 2-aminoimidazole bromopyrrole class of natural products and has shown to possess interesting biological activity (ie. antiviral, activation of ATPase, etc.). Our approach to Ageliferin's total synthesis hinges on a stereoselective electrophilic aromatic substitution.
