Abstract---A practical synthesis of a novel class of chloro triazolo/imidazolo-pyrimidines 2 as useful building blocks for p38 kinase inhibitor is described. 1a and 1b can be prepared through two different pathways. The building blocks enabled medicinal chemist to explore potency and in vivo efficacy.
