Design and development of new Mo- as well as Ru-based catalysts (examples shown below) for selective olefin metathesis will be presented. Particular emphasis will be placed on chiral catalysts for olefin metathesis and the corresponding methods in asymmetric synthesis. Representative unique attributes of the catalytic enantioselective olefin metathesis methods and applications to the synthesis of biologically active molecules will be discussed.
