One of the major challenges in contemporary synthetic organic chemistry is the development of general methods and strategies for the development of concise and efficient approaches to complex, biologically active natural products. In the context of developing novel entries to alkaloids and other heterocyclic natural products, we have explored various applications of olefin metathesis as a key construction, recent applications of which will be presented.
