Self-assembly via hydrogen-bonded of dendrimer synthesis and supramolecular polymerization

In order to obtain well-defined self-assembly aggregates, quadruple hydrogen-bonded system is increasingly employed. Here, a new series of unsymmetric Newkome-type dendrimers wiich contain a single ureidopyrimidine unit has been prepared and characterized. The first and second dendrimers form very stable dimers via hydrogen bonding of their AADD or ADAD ureridopyrimidine units. However, the third generation dendrimer dimerizes to a very low extent.
