| Friedel-Crafts chemistry is of major importance both on a laboratory and industrial scale. In general, Friedel-Crafts alkylations of aromatic compounds require Lewis acids such as AlCl3, HF or H2SO4 as catalyst, long reaction time, followed by difficult product recovery and purification. This work focuses on the effect of microwave heating and ionic liquids for fast and environmentally friendly Friedel-Crafts alkylation. The effect of temperature, type of catalyst and reaction time are studied. Final products are isolated using automated Flash chromatography. |
