| Swansonine is a bicyclic polyhydroxylated alkaloid with four stereo centers, which was isolated from the fungal culture Rhizoctonia leguminicola. Swansonine shows wide biological activities. These includes against cancer cells, HIV infected cells and is a potent inhibitor of lysosomal a-mannosidase. The unique structure of Swansonine attracted our synthesis interst. Our current synthetic effort toward Swansonine will be presented.
