| Although total air emissions have been on a steady decline, alternative technologies can be implemented to maximize pollution prevention. Ionic liquid technologies will mitigate air emissions through reduction of volatile organic compounds. A study involving the scope of substrate in the Knoevenagel reaction with the use of an ionic liquid medium has been conducted. Ionic liquid technology will be used to investigate both the condensation process of activated methylene compounds with aldehyde functionality. The structural integrity of the ionic liquid medium will be evaluated after performing numerous recycling experiments on the same ionic liquid medium. |
