Synthesis and characterization of free standing molecular wires

The design and synthesis of 2,4,9-trithiaadmantane anchored phenylacetylenic molecular wires and the corresponding triruthenium metal cluster complex as a model of molecular wire junction will be reported. The structures of the novel metal cluster complexes were characterized by spectroscopic methods, and confirmed by the X-Ray crystal structures.
