Our group has explored the synthesis of polysubstituted bicyclic molecules utilizing a palladium-catalyzed three-component domino reaction. Application of this novel sequence to tricyclic heterocycles 2 will be presented. The reaction sequence involves intramolecular ortho and ortho' alkylations of 1 followed by an intermolecular Heck reaction.
