| The 2-phenyl-3-aryl-6-alkyl-7-cyclopropyl/cyclohexyl-5H-furo[3,2-g][1] benzopyran-5-ones(3) have been prepared by condensing 2-phenyl-3-aryl-5-acyl-6-hydroxy-benzofurans(1) with cyclopropane/cyclohexane-carbonyl chloride(2) under phase-transfer catalysis conditions as well as modified Baker-Venkatraman Transformation method with a view to compare the ease of formation by the said methods. The compounds so synthesized in the present investigation are characterized by the physical methods such as IR,UV,nmr and mass spectra. The phase-transfer catalysis method has been found to be eco-friendly with better yields. The compounds thus synthesized are screened for their anti-feedant activity and some of them were found to possess moderate anti-feedant activity. |
