Syntheses of bipyridyl-tethered macrocyclic tetrathioether ligands

Abstract: The syntheses of a number of bipyridyl tethered macrocyclic tetrathioether ligands will be reported. The syntheses of appropriately substituted 14-membered ring tetrathioethers will be described. The coupling of these macrocyclic ligands with 4-methylbipyridyl derivatives will also be presented. Additionally, the X-ray crystal structures of some of the ligands and their complexes will be shown.
