| The palladium-catalyzed reaction of terminal alkynes with cyclopropenes provides alkynylcyclopropanes under mild conditions. This reaction is tolerant of many functional groups (esters, ketones, carboxylic acids, nitriles, etc.) that are not compatible with the typical conditions used for this transformation, which involve stoichiometric deprotonation of the alkyne with strong base. The scope and limitations of this reaction will be presented. |
