Compared with diphosphines and diphospholanes, phosphine-phosphite and phosphine-phosphinite ligands are rarely reported for asymmetric hydrogenation. These under-reported ligands typically suffer from limitations such as low enantioselectivity and narrow substrate scope. Herein, we report the design and synthesis of two new phosphine-phosphite and phosphine-phosphinite ligands prepared from BINOL. Preliminary results showed that these ligands are highly enantioselective in Rh-catalyzed asymmetric hydrogenation of a variety of dehydroaminoacid derivatives.
