The synthesis and application of S-dodecylthioltrifluoroacetate is described. Preliminary applications in Schotten-Baumann trifluoroacetylation reactions will be presented. Boasting similar reactivity and application as S-ethylthioltrifluoroacetate, this longer chain derivative is easily synthesized from cheap starting materials, has no detectable odor and is stable at room temperature.
