| Porphyrin as a building block has attracted great attention since it offers a variety of desirable features such as large molecular size, rigid planar geometry, high stability, intense electronic absorptions across a wide spectral range, strong fluorescence emission, and the ability to complex almost any kind of metal ions. The design and synthesis of well-defined nanometer-scale porphyrin-containing liquid crystals will be presented. |
