(R)-(+)-Aminocyclopentenone 3 is a valuable chiral building block for the asymmetric synthesis of structurally diverse antiviral and anticancer carbocyclic nucleosides. An efficient synthesis of 3 using olefin-enone ring-closing metathesis of amino keto-2,7-dienes 2 will be presented.
