Solid Phase Organic Synthesis (SPOS) is the primary method utilized in Combinatorial Chemistry. In SPOS there exists an important need to develop methods which generate carbon-carbon bonds that are also compatible with a broad range of chemical functionality. Research on the synthesis of anisole chromium carbene complexes and their thermal benzannulations with different acetylenes will be presented. Cleavage of the resulting products produces substituted o-methoxy 1,4-napthoquinones, which are analogous to plumbagin and other biologically active compounds.
