Thiosemicarbazone compounds are an important class of ligands that contain potential N, O, and S multidentate binding sites to a wide variety of transition metal ions. This poster will present the successful synthesis of a new series of phenanthrolinequinone thiosemicarbazone ligands: phenanthrolinequinone thiosemicarbazone, phenanthrolinequinone methylthiosemicarbazone, phenanthrolinequinone phenylthiosemicarbazone, and phenanthrolinequinone dimethylthiosemicarbazone. These compounds have been characterized by 1H NMR, 13C NMR, IR, and UV-VIS spectroscopy, and this data will be presented and discussed.
