HPLC analysis of phthalate(s) solutions showed queer phenomena, suggesting possible self-assembly of phthalic acid molecules, monoethylphthalate molecules, and between these two kinds of molecules, in various seemingly good solvents for them, although there has been no report concerning the self-assembly of these substances in any solvent yet. On the other hand, diethylphthalate did not show nor was involved in any queer behavior mentioned above. On the day of presentation, the above hypothesis is to be discussed in detail, together with other data, some of which suggesting a huge size of the assembly.
