Isotope effects on non-covalent host-guest interactions in a cylindrical molecular capsule

The dimeric capsule 12 is a good host for small molecules and molecular pairs.

We present here research concerning isotope effects on the non-covalent interactions between deuterated and non-deuterated isomers and the capsule 12.

The isomers were put in contact simultaneously with the capsule, and the constants for the equilibrium of the type shown in Figure 1 were calculated using NMR measurements. Surprisingly large isotope effects were observed.
