The Amaryllidaceae alkaloids exhibit significant antitumor activity. As a group they are structurally complex with a variety of functionality. (+)-Pancratistatin is the most promising member of this class of alkaloids. Several multi-step syntheses of pancratistatin have been reported. Recent progress towards the synthesis of pancratistatin and deoxypancratistatin from cheap, readily available starting materials will be presented.![]() |
