New strategies of domino-effect cyclization processes involving nickel enolates have been developed. The oxidative cyclization of an enal and alkyne with Ni(0) readily generates nickel enolates which may be functionalized by a variety of alkylation methods. These processes allow for both partially and fully intramolecular variations to rapidly synthesize complex polycyclic molecules from simple, acyclic precursors. The synthetic pathways towards building some of the more complex precursors will also be covered.![]() |
